What is a Theory?

Important point:

Theory is basically an ideas or thought. But to scientists, a theory is an explanation of a phenomenon that is testable and falsifiable with many evidences supporting it. It has no collected data to back it up. Theory are formed of numerous hypotheses that using scientific method. Theory explains the data and predicts the outcome of future experiments is formed.

Reaction:

I think this article can make us really understand more about the word “Theory”, but this article also very hard to understand.  For me hypothesis and Theory are almost the same but hypothesis is like the small part of Theory. I feel like we can’t make sure with the Theory.  This article make me knows that Theory has no collected data.

What is a Theory?
Important points

In English, a theory means an abstract thought or idea that does not required any evidence to support it, although this is different in Science, in Science, a theory is a broad explanation of a phenomenon or phenomena and required evidences. However, even theories and hypotheses are both intended to answer questions; they are not the same. A Theory can only be formed after a number of hypotheses are tested by experiments or using the scientific method. Both of them are still parts of the scientific method. And yes, a scientific theory can be wrong and can always be revised.

Reaction

When I read this, I felt like being a scientist isn’t one of the easiest but one of the toughest jobs on Earth. It seems ridiculous to me that even you have a whole bunch of evidences in your hand, you can’t just go around and prove your theory like cutting off a piece of your birthday cake! Why do scientists make their life so miserable? At once! I understood their objectives and purpose in their lives. I would like to agree that very few theories later become laws, and most of them involved physics or mathematic in explaining themselves. Lastly, I would like to show my sorrow for those scientists who did a great job in the past, but were refused by the people around them. Only after about 500 years when they are already dead, people just somehow switch their mind and say “oh, he was completely right.”

 What is a theory?

Important part:

Theory is an idea or thought that every scientist uses it. Hypothesis and theory are quiet similar but hypothesis is just a small theory but they both are important and are part of the scientific method. Hypothesis is tested, results and retest but theory is explains the data and predicts the outcomes of future experiments is formed. And it related to everyone in class and scientists because when we having an experiment and we all need to think about the hypothesis for every experiment time.

Reaction:

I felt that hypothesis and theory are very important to us and every scientist while we are having an experiment because we have to use and think about it before knowing the result.

What is Theory?

Important Points:

The scientific method of theory is a broad explanation of a fact that is testable and has a lot of evidence. Theories can be made false. Hypothesis and theories are part of the scientific method. We learnt a little about the scientific method, while learning about it, we discussed about experiments. Experiments are performed to test our hypothesis, hypothesis support theories.

Reaction:

Scientists define theory as a broad explanation of a fact that is testable. Scientists do experiments to find hypothesis to support their theories. Very few theories are made into laws, because theories can never be proven, and can always be revised. I feel my thoughts and doubts about theory, I had before are cleared. My doubts about scientific method are still not clear.

D-Day

Finally, it was June 6, 1944 or D-Day!!! The Allied forces under an U.S. general, Dwight D. Eisenhower, led to one of the world greatest naval invasion of all times. The Allied would not defeat the Nazis without cooperation, well-planned invasion and well-trained military forces. The Canadian, British and the American armies marched to war without fear while Sir Frederick Edgeworth Morgan smoked his cigars as he planned the world greatest invasion ever. Remember!!! Without D-day, the leadership of general Dwight D. Eisenhower, and the golden plan, Russia would probably rule the entire European continent today.

It took incredibly amount of bravery for the Allies to win the war. They kept on fighting, passing mines, traps, tanks etc. As a result, most of them died at the end of the war. After the war, one of the German soldiers described his point of View on D-Day, telling how organized the Allies were. He explained that on the night of June 6th, he didn’t expect any invasion or anything more than just his regular watch in the night. But suddenly, parachutists were everywhere, aircrafts started to land, and ships were releasing all their tanks and soldiers. He went on detail that after a moment, tanks began to approach from every directions and fire at him and his unit. After a couple of hours, they were caught by British paratroops. First he was very depressed to be in captivity, only later when he saw what was left behind for the enemy to attack he found himself very fortunate and glad. In brief, without the Allies’ bravery, they would never be able to win the war.

Now, you would ask how the Allies won the war. Within three months, the Allies landed two million men and 500,000 vehicles. From then on, they kept pushing inland and broke to the German defensive line. Meanwhile, they successfully liberated Paris. Then the Allies advanced up to Germany where they rejoined with the Soviets who had came a long way from the Battle of Stalingrad. By January, Hitler, leader of the Nazis, moved into his bunker which was located under the city of Berlin. Even when Hitler was losing, he still ordered his supporters to continue the Holocaust, and blamed the Jews for losing the war for the second times. Finally, it is believed that either Hitler killed himself by sticking a bullet in his head, or ran away which no one ever saw him again.

What next? The next thing that happened after World War II was the division of Germany into sections or parts, and gave it to the member of the Allies to rule as mandates. The western part went to the Americans, French and British while the eastern part went to the Soviet Union. Unfortunately, due to political differences, the Soviet applied strict Communist rule in the eastern part of Germany creating an “Iron Curtain between Western and Eastern Europe” as what Winston Churchill had remarked. East Germany was not reunited again until 1990. The division of Germany and political differences caused the Cold War which lasted until 1991 when Mikhail Gorbachev declared that the Soviet Union ceased to exist.

The Allies won the war. And today, they are the countries that the greatest impact in our lives.

Do you lilke the new school building?

From last year the school has been building a new school building and it's very good, I like it so much. The new building is big. It looks better than the old school building and it looks like something from a high society. It also can support more students that are coming to study at Niva International School.

I really like the new school's building so i want this building to be finished as fast as possible, This new building looks much better than the old school building.

In the new building they are making a lot of new classrooms. They are also building things our school has never built before such as, a swimming pool.

I also like the new building because its bigger and we can have more classes. The building can support more students that are coming to study at or school. We have more room for study and activities to do. The thing I lie most is to have more area and more classroom for subjects.

Niva International School is the best school for me. I like the new building better than the old one. They are doing an excellent job so far. Niva can prove to me that they are always trying to get bigger and better all the time.

Why are books important?

Books are very important in my life. I love reading books, because it gives me knowledge in many ways.Books give examples of life from different aspects. Books help me improve my English, as I learn new vocabulary words. Books help me improve my imagination. Books also give me ideas on how to lead my life.

Books give examples of life from different aspects such as, when a person gets lost in the woods the book gives us ways of surviving.  Books help me improve my English by giving me new vocabulary words.  I believe in order to improve your English and vocabulary you have to read as much as possible.

Books help me improve my imagination and give me ideas on how to lead my life.  When I read books, there are sentences that explain the scene using descriptive writing.  The books give me examples of some wrong decisions in life.  For example, when you drive during the night, you have to watch the road carefully and keep the headlights turned on, or else you end up in accidents.

Fifty percent of the students in class like reading books.  Thirty percent of students like reading romantic books.  Twenty percent of students like reading mystery and adventure.  Eighty-five percent of my vocabulary words come from books I read.  Seventy-five percent of students agree with me that you can learn vocabulary words from reading.

In conclusion, I think books are very important in helping improve my daily life.
